Arthur Pranno is the director of string studies at Florida Southern College, where he teaches violin and conducts the Florida Southern College Symphony Orchestra as well as courses in contemporary Music History. Mr. Pranno serves as Associate conductor and concertmaster of the Imperial Symphony Orchestra in Lakeland. He has also served as Music Director and Conductor of the Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra. A native of Chicago, he received his Bachelor of Music at the University of Iowa, studying violin under Leopald La Fosse and conducting under James Dixon. He also holds the Master of Music from Arizona State University. He has studied conducting with James Dixon, Myron Welch, and Dennis Russell Davies. His violin teachers have included Steven Staryk, William Magers, Allen Ohmes and Paul Roland. Mr. Pranno has served on the faculty of Fort Hays State University, Arizona State University, The Echo Glen Chamber Music Festival, and the Desert Music Workshop. He has also served as a conductor of the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra. Mr. Pranno has performed with the Center for New Music, Phoenix Symphony, Phoenix Chamber Orchestra, Lyric Opera Theatre, and numerous historic instrumental ensembles. He has served as conductor of many all-county and all-state orchestras and as clinician throughout the southeast, the Midwest and the southwestern United States.
